Hmmmmm I wonder why you never see photos of men with their mouths taped shut in the name of protesting censorship.
(I don’t actually wonder why)

“Really confused by all these progressives pushing for voter registration and using Hip Hop to influence the youth to vote. Vote for who? Obama? Romney? What side are yall on? The federal elections at this point are out of popular control. If you’re talking about participating and giving legitimacy to a voting system that from the beginning was fixed to disenfranchise the masses, what you’re really doing is a disservice to the people.”
Rebel Diaz (via Facebook)
Hip hop and rap began as tools of political expression. That’s been forgotten in the era of mass commodification and lost in the crush of “progressive” “leftist” white people trying to get cred by piggybacking off of brown people (as usual).

read this you guys, and tell me how much it owns that one of the geniuses behind OWS is a silicon valley trust fund baby.
The author of this article only gets one thing wrong: the main lesson we should learn here is, never trust a capitalist.
We already knew not to trust anarchists.
i think the best way to become a commie [ETA: and/or radfem] is to hang out with anarchists for a few months and really get to know them to the point where you become so repulsed by their politics and lifestyles you start to automatically gravitate towards the things they hate and fear the most, like states and vanguard parties and third-world nationalism and kink-shaming and critiques of gender and frowny-boy asceticism and critical thinking
This is exactly how I got where I am today. Thanks, anarchism!
the fact that i am viscerally despised on a personal level by anarchists irl is one of the very few things in my life im proud of
It took me a while, but I too have come to regard this as a badge of pride.
“This is why I hate leftist men so much; they are as woman-hating as the right-wing ones but just uncovered, the ideology naked in all its rawness. So the women in Pussy Riot are being portrayed as feminist heroes fighting for women’s sexual freedom when what they truly are is direct victims of massive terror … from the oppressors.”

go around town putting up posters that say “It’s time for a Third Way, meet up at the park on 8/16” then wait for the anarchists, fascists, and neoliberals to beat each other up over who is the Real Third Way
whoever loses, we win
I really like this archive of your experiences. It verifies a lot of the things that I have seen and it’s reassuring to know I’m not crazy. Plus you’re a good writer.
Thank you! And you are certainly not crazy. That’s part of why I put together this collection (and why I add to it almost every day) — to provide a resource for women to look at and hopefully identify with. I can remember swimming in the misogyny, thinking (and being told) I was crazy, and desperately seeking out the voices of other women who’d experienced similar things … so if I can be that for someone else now, that’s enough.
(In case it wasn’t clear in the other reblog, too: I am still an anti-authoritarian radical and have what could broadly be called “punk ethics”, I just don’t “identify” as anything or hang out in communities anymore.)

today i read through the lefty assholes tag on paleotrees’ tumblr. (note: neither of us is a rightist; we are both radical feminists.)
it is a collection of her and other women’s experiences in activism and radical communities, and their insights and analysis thereto pertaining. i found it a very rewarding read, and i recommend it.
Holy shit, thanks you all!
I’m not “just” a radical feminist, I’m also an ex-punk and socialist anarchist. I seen a lot of the left, and not just what I’ve written here so far. This will motivate me to write moar!
Check the “radical assholes” tag too. (I was also trying to make tags for “lefty embarrassments” and “radical embarrassments”, but I didn’t always spell “embarrassment” correctly … so everything should be marked with one or both kinds of “asshole” instead.)

This is not about manarchists, but it could be.
