Today I bought my first pair of new glasses in like four or five years. My mom used to hold it as a matter of some pride to go forever between new pairs of glasses, but either I have worse eyesight than she does or she’s half blind all the time, because I’ve been feeling this ever increasingly over the past few months and am really ready for a change. When I’m squinting everyday and my depth perception starts to go, I become a human health risk from always walking into things or being perpetually irritated from thinking everyone is about to walk into me.

After the eye exam, I went straight to the opthamologist’s to the second-party optician’s — and since I had my pupils dilated to the size of dinner plates, it was kind of a trip. Just take a look at these babies.

Clearly I wore sunglasses and walked quickly on the shady side of the street, keeping as much distance between myself and other people or standing objects as possible. I was almost there when, after a series of successful near-misses, someone backed straight into me on the steps of the Puck Building. I screamed, but just kept walking because I didn’t trust myself to stop. It probably wasn’t even the weirdest thing that happened on the steps of the Puck Building today.

Internet! This is the band Tallahassee. These beautiful people are taking me on the road as merch crew for their three-night minitour this week and I’m freaking stoked.

See that guy in the tie-dyed suit? He’s something like six foot eight and he used to be a linebacker for the New England Patriots. Last time I went on a minitour with them, I got belligerent drunk and literally climbed him like he was a tree. He probably gets that kind of thing a lot and he doesn’t give a single fuck. The rest of the dudes are pretty chill too, and I’m excited to help them out.

If you’re in the area, you can catch them with some other quality bands in Providence (at the same theater as pictured above) on 5/2, in Boston on 5/3, and in New York on 5/4. They’re celebrating the release of a new record, which will be on hand in some quantity so I can sell one to you. You can also buy tee-shirts and stuff made by the former linebacker, which is all really dope. It’s going to be a fun time, if you’re into that kind of thing, which I hope you are.

For the record, I am repulsed whenever *any* dude, regardless of looks, catcalls or harasses me (or any other woman for that matter) — and many other women feel the same.

Also I feel weird whenever any stranger approaches me on the street or tells me I have nice [insert name of body part here]. If we’re being totally honest, I personally feel weird whenever a friend does that either.

It’s weird to live in a world where someone has to say that.
